Letter to Parents Dated 1/25/12
The following is the text of a letter that went home to parents on January 25, 2012:

I am writing to inform you about the sudden passing of one of our seniors here at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. We are profoundly saddened by this tragic loss and our entire school community extends our sincere sympathies to the family, friends, classmates and teachers who are all touched by this loss. As a result of this incident, some of our students were understandably distraught and in need of emotional support in handling this situation.

The crisis team from City Schools was deployed immediately to the school today and its members will remain on site throughout this week and next week to provide assistance to staff and students. Our school administrators and on- site support team – which includes our school psychologist, social workers and guidance counselors – are also assisting in this effort.

Please be assured that our students will receive all the support available to us through City Schools.
Thank you for your support in this matter and for all you do every day to uphold and strengthen our school community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school at 410-396-7026.

Sicerely,

Jacqueline Williams
Interim Director
Baltimore Polytechnic Institute

HSA non-passers must take advantage of this opportunity in order to graduate. Fifteen sessions will be provided, free of charge for each participant. Lettered bus tickets will be used as specified by MTA for each session. All students will be given their schedules and room assignments when they arrive at 8:45 AM. The program dates are:

December 10, 17 January 7, 21, 28 February 11, 25

March 10, 17, 24 April 21, 2 May 5 (Mock HSA), 12 (results/strategies)

Although your child’s grade will not be directly impacted by the Saturday School, we are confident that the improvement of skills and work habits will help him/her to achieve greater success in class and on the High School Assessments.
We hope that your child will be able to be a part of this opportunity for growth and greater success.
