Poly Wins the Baltimore City Championship in Wrestling

The Poly Wrestling Team became the 2009/2010 City Champions by winning the District IX City wrestling tournament this year. They finished ahead of Patterson by four points. (Poly 220 points – Patterson 216 points). Digital Harbor came in 3rd with 150 points and Carver finished 4th with 128.5 points. Poly placed 6 wrestlers in the finals. Seniors John Ward and Lee Douglas placed 1st. Second place finishes were secured by Tobias Brown (jr), Josh Sears (sr), Borden Chase (jr), and Iniunam Iniubong (jr). Sr. Eric Walker placed 3rd. In addition to these place winners, Jrs. Cody Gelvar, Adam Strarkey-El, and Soph Aaron Smith all qualified for the regional tournament. Poly was tied for first in the region for the number of individuals qualifying for the regional Tournament.

Iniunam Iniubong placed 3rd in the regional tournament while Borden Chase and Lee Douglas finished in 4th place. These three wrestlers qualified for the MPSSAA Stat Wrestling tournament at College Park.
